The Heart of Virginia's Horse Country :
The Virginia Horse Center
One of the world's leading facilities for all equine disciplines and breeds at the regional, national and international levels. The Center offers a beautiful 600+ acre complex which can board up to 700 horses. Two cross-country courses host events through Intermediate level. Major events at the coliseum can accommodate over 4000 spectators.
Hoof Beats Therapeutic Riding Center
Providing an opportunity for young people with special needs to make a connection to the riding experience, Hoofbeats offers instruction and fun. Individualized instruction and professional staff working with a broad base of volunteers make it possible for kids who might never otherwise have the chance to even be near a horse, to ride one.
Horse Trails
There are 65 miles of trail developed specifically for horse use. The trails run through the National Forest from Natural Bridge. There are trailheads along the way with plenty of room for parking and tacking up. Bring your own horse. Call the U.S. Forest Service Glenwood Ranger District for more information 540-291-2188.
